COME AND JOIN THE FUN
As members of the family of God, part of our MICC schedule each year includes the MICC ski weekend. This year we have rented a self-catering chalet in the Austrian Alps. It should be a great weekend away for skiing and winter fun, relaxing with friends, and time to reflect and talk over deeper matters too. It is a great opportunity to bring friends and relatives from outside MICC. It is more than a weekend of skiing, it is a time for our church body to grow closer together in unique ways. (Non-skiers are welcome, however, aside from cross-country skiing, tobogganing, and relaxing in the chalet, there isn’t that much to do in the area.)
The chalet is nicely situated in the Pitztal valley of Austria not too far from the small town of St. Leonhard. Aside from a lot of beautiful nature and three ski areas, there is not much nearby. One of the ski areas is a glacier, so snow is guaranteed. There is plenty of parking and also a free ski bus that stops outside the door and goes to each ski area. The Pitztal valley is south of Garmisch and about a 2 1/2 hour drive south of Munich—not factoring in traffic, weather, or construction. The chalet has space for over 50 people, and almost all rooms have their own bathrooms and shower facilities.
Following an energetic day on the slopes we will meet together in the evening to enjoy a meal together and late night conversations in one of the communal rooms with board games, snacks and drinks—a great opportunity to build friendships. On Sunday we plan to return to Munich in time for our service. We have booked the entire chalet for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. You can choose the Standard Weekend (Fri-Sun) or the Extended Weekend (Thu-Sun). The price is for the whole weekend, not per night, and includes all room costs, breakfast, and the evening meal. Every effort has been made to keep costs low. The self-catering chalet helps a lot with this. However, as a result, we expect everyone to be willing to help out where needed—especially before and after meal times.
Please bear in mind winter sports can be dangerous and as such appropriate insurance cover is highly recommended.
WHAT TO BRING
Passport, games, Bible, warm clothes, skis, boots, sleds, snowboards. Ski passes and equipment will be bought or rented there. Linens are provided, however, you MUST bring your own towels as well as slippers to wear inside the chalet. Basic drinks will be provided for mealtimes. One great advantage of a self-catering chalet, is we can bring our own food. So we encourage you to bring along drinks and snacks (beer, wine, homemade snacks, etc) to share in the evenings.
If you are able to drive down, it is of great help to us if you offer to drive others down with you—please mark how many people you can take on the registration form. While it is possible to reach the location by train, it will be much easier by car. We will make every effort to place everyone in a car. Also, unless you’re coming by train, please bring extra cash to cover your travel costs. This money will be collected over the weekend to reimburse drivers for fuel and any approved car rental costs.

Helmets can be rented, but you must bring proper clothing.
SKI LESSONS/NOTE TO BEGINNERS
For complete beginners we would strongly recommend that you have had some time on the slopes or lessons before you come. There are usually people willing and able to help beginners at the retreat but you should have had at least one day experience. Check the appropriate box on the registration form if you would like help on the slopes.
PLEASE register on or before Sunday, December 22 (early bird). Late registration may be possible through Sunday, January 5th, however a late fee of 10€ will apply. Space is limited, register soon! If you are unable to fully commit at this time, you may still register now, there is a place on the form to indicate when you will be able to confirm. To limit the cost and confusion of late cancellations, a fee of 25% will be charged for anyone cancelling after the 10th of January.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Full payment is requested to secure your place. Note: you are paying only for your room and partial food costs (breakfast and dinner) by this transfer. All other costs will be handled on site. Please transfer the funds as soon as possible when you register. Payments should be transferred to the MICC bank account at the: Kreissparkasse München Starnberg IBAN: DE 4570 2501 5000 1006 9003 BIC: BYLADEM1KMS IMPORTANT: Please put your name and the text “ski weekend” in the Verwendungszweck field (e.g., “M. Luther: Ski Weekend”). If you do not have a bank account, you can pay with cash in Euro–please note this in the “comments” section. When you have transferred your payment, please send an email indicating you have done so to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please register by Sunday, December 22. Again, there is a late fee of 10€ after this date until the final deadline of Friday, January 10–after which registration will be closed and fee of 25% will be charged for late cancellations.
